Camera Planning for Napa Wineries and Hospitality Properties
Napa Valley’s vineyard floor sits between the Mayacamas and Vaca ranges. On a wine estate, the tasting room, production building and residence may have very different camera needs. We plan those views together without treating the whole property as one open space.
Guest arrivals and working areas need different priorities. An overview of the tasting-room approach can show activity, while a closer entrance view may provide useful detail. Delivery access, loading areas and equipment storage need their own coverage. A wide vineyard panorama is not a substitute for identifying a person or vehicle at a gate.
We review cable routes between buildings, network capacity and recording storage alongside camera placement. Installation is coordinated with your team around tasting appointments, events and harvest operations, with any expected interruptions discussed before work starts.

Clear Video, Useful Alerts and Discreet Installation
Camera quality matters most when you need to review an event. We choose resolution, viewing angle and low-light capabilities for each location, checking shaded verandas, bright exterior approaches and nighttime lighting rather than assuming one camera suits every view.
UniFi Protect brings live viewing and recorded footage into one app. Supported cameras can identify people and vehicles, helping you find relevant events and configure useful alerts. We set up authorized users and walk you through reviewing and exporting a clip. Detection features depend on the selected cameras and equipment; remote viewing and notifications require a working internet connection.
For Napa homes and estate properties, we plan views of the driveway, entryways and side gates while considering neighbors and privacy. Thoughtful mounting and neatly routed wiring help the equipment sit comfortably alongside stone, timber and other carefully finished surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can cameras keep recording during a power outage?
A correctly sized uninterruptible power supply can keep the recorder, network switch and connected cameras operating for a limited time. Runtime depends on the equipment load and battery capacity. We review the full power path, not just the camera. Local recording may continue while internet service is unavailable, but remote viewing and notifications need an internet connection.
Can you reuse our winery’s existing cameras or cabling?
We check the existing equipment, cable condition, network connections and available power before recommending a replacement. Useful wiring may be retained, but not every camera or recorder is compatible with UniFi Protect. For a property with separate tasting and production buildings, we also review how those buildings connect so the upgrade works as a complete system.
Can a camera read license plates at a vineyard entrance?
License plate capture needs its own plan: suitable equipment, a close enough view, a useful angle and the right lighting. Vehicle speed, headlights and darkness affect the result. We assess the gate approach before recommending a license plate recognition camera; a wide camera watching a driveway does not automatically provide readable plates. Outdoor equipment is selected for the exposure at its mounting location.
