Location: Santa Rosa, California Client: Residential client Property Type: Two-story home with cable access via exterior wall

Overview

A homeowner in Santa Rosa hired Clear Telecommunications to install a Starlink internet system in Santa Rosa without drilling into the roof. The team used a fascia-mounted solution and carefully routed the cabling to deliver high-speed satellite internet while maintaining a clean, professional finish.

Mounting Setup

To avoid penetrating the roof, the Starlink dish was mounted to the fascia board of the second-level roof using a Gen 3 Subfix mount. A pressure-treated 2"×6"×12" Douglas Fir block was anchored to the fascia using exterior-grade lag bolts, creating a solid base. The mount was then attached to the block using stainless steel screws and washers for long-term durability. The dish was aligned using a level and secured to the manufacturer’s torque specification, with dual-axis adjustments ensuring optimal sky visibility.

Cable Routing and Entry

From the dish to the interior modem location in the kitchen, 120 feet of black Ubiquiti CAT-grade cable was run along the exterior of the home. The cable path followed siding edges for a neat look and was clipped securely along the way. A single wall penetration was drilled to bring the cable indoors; the entry point was sealed with silicone to prevent moisture intrusion. RJ-45 connectors were crimped on both ends to ensure a stable connection.
